Our Hygienists Story ...

Our very own hygienist Hardip Dhillon, was fitted with Damon braces in February 2009.

Like many adult patients, Hardip had been fitted with braces when she was younger but as a result of not wearing her retainers after treatment had been completed, her teeth had moved back out of alignment.

After a consultation with our specialist orthodontist, Hardip was recommended fixed braces using the Damon System. The Damon System has clinically proven advantages in that the high technology wires move teeth faster and require fewer adjustments, giving higher quality results.

Hardip says

“My teeth didn’t really bother me, until I saw a recent photo of myself for a photoshoot at Sparkle. I didn’t realise how much my teeth were sticking out! My brother was getting married in September so I thought it would be a great idea to get my teeth straightened for then.”

Hardip was fitted with Damon braces on her upper and lower teeth on 12th February 2009. She says

"I was really surprised but the braces were really comfortable. In my role as a hygienist, I have to speak to my patients all the time to give them oral health advice, so I was a little concerned about whether my speech would be affected by the braces. It took a couple of days to get used to wearing the braces and it had little effect on my speech. It was great!”

On 12th March, a month after having her Damon braces fitted, Hardip had her first adjustment appointment. Hardip says

“The adjustment took about 15 minutes, and after the adjustment I could feel gentle pressure on some of my teeth.” 

Hardip goes on to say

“Within 6 weeks I noticed that the overlap that I had between my upper two front teeth had totally disappeared. I was totally shocked at the speed of the movement!.”

Following a further three appointments to adjust her wires, Hardip had her Damon braces removed on 30th July 2009, just under five months from when her braces were fitted.

Hardip says

“I could not believe how perfectly straight my teeth had become. Everybody has noticed. Patients and family alike keep commenting on my perfect smile!”

“It’s certainly been worth it. I only wish I had done it sooner. It’s not long until my brothers wedding now…and I know who will have the biggest smile…Me!”
