Sparkle’s Weekly Smile Showcase – 9th July 2011

This week’s Sparkling Smiles

A lopsided smile and crooked teeth were restored using a combination of fixed metal and ceramic (tooth coloured braces).  In under 12 months, Charlene’s teeth are arrow straight teeth and she has a perfect smile.

Two porcelain veneers were placed on the upper two front teeth. Within two appointments over two weeks, the patient was relieved to see something that had bothered her all her life could be changed so quickly.

Crooked teeth on the upper jaw are much harder to disguise than crooked teeth on the lower jaw. This patient had visited the practice many times over several years with concerns about her upper teeth. Spurred on by her brother’s impending wedding she took the plunge and within one visit, this patient’s smile was transformed with temporary veneers. The porcelain veneers will be fitted in two weeks time. The patients reaction? She said the results are: “Unbelievable.”

Two upper front teeth which were broken and worn were restored using two porcelain veneers. Two appointments and hey presto – better than ever!

This patient was concerned about discoloured and chipped teeth. Teeth whitening followed by the placing of two porcelain veneers gave the patient a much brighter, whiter smile.

In both of these patients, the difference to their smiles is incredible. Taking away the insecurity these patients felt about their smiles and giving them a smile they want to show the world is everything that Sparkle is about.

Veneers – the fake – it answer to a perfect smile!

If your teeth are looking a little tired and you would like to inject a little sparkle into your smile then veneers are the answer.

Veneers are to your teeth what falsies are to your fingernails and if you’re looking for a quick cover-up for those little flaws then look no further. Veneers are designed to fit like a glove and blend in with the rest of your teeth to keep the façade going. As you stroll through the streets of Brentford no one will ever know you’re faking it as long as you stay tight-lipped – but only metaphorically of course, it would be a shame not to flash that killer smile at every available opportunity.

Function and Aesthetics Restorations that Last!

Sunita Verma, Principal Dentist at Sparkle Dental Boutique recently attended an actioned packed two day seminar “Function and Aesthetics Restorations that Last!” to enhance her skills in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

The course was delivered by Ian Buckle and Ken Hamlett, at the Royal College of Physicians in London and involved lectures and practical hands on sessions. It was a great chance for Sunita to meet up with her mentor Ken Hamlett, who travelled from Texas where he is an eminent cosmetic dentist. Sunita has previously trained under Ken’s guidance and gained a whole new approach to her smile makeover work, which has been subsequently recognised at the Smile Awards.

We have in the UK a population who want to look their best and keep their teeth for a lifetime and as patients keep their teeth longer some dentitions are simply wearing out. Sunita realises that her patients’ dental needs are changing and they deserve the best techniques, materials and treatments available in order to satisfy their dental needs.

The first day lectures covered examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and delivery. The second day was a practical hands-on session. Course participants were encouraged to bring in study models, photos and x-rays of patients so that they could share knowledge and understand the advanced treatment planning process.

Having completed the course Sunita says, “I left the course feeling that my restorative work will have an extra dimension of finesse and that my temporary veneers would look more natural than ever. I also feel that I will be able to provide my patients with more predictable, longer lasting, beautiful results”.

Cover up tooth imperfections the right way

Now there’s an easier way to get the perfect smile you’ve always dreamed off – forget teeth whitening, braces or just old fashioned elbow grease.

It can be hard work to keep your smile looking perfect, can’t it? We might all dream of having a Hollywood grin, but these stars have an army of beauticians and personal assistants on hand to keep them looking great. All we have in our arsenal is fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash.

Teeth whitening treatments are now widely available, but even they will only work so well on badly stained teeth; and they can’t do anything to fix that small gap or correct that crooked bit. So that’s where porcelain veneers come in.

You can be measured for a set of veneers that will be cemented to the front of your natural teeth to create a brand new smile. The Glitz and Glamour of a Bollywood Smile

It seems quite clear that your smile can have a very positive (or negative) impact on your life…socially, romantically, and in your career. This was backed by a recent survey by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists which showed that 96% of adults believed that an attractive smile makes a person more appealing to the opposite sex and three-quarters (74%) of adults feel that an unattractive smile could hurt a person’s chances for career success!
