Oral Hygiene for Patients from Kew Wearing Fixed Metal Braces

May 31st, 2012

Wearing metal braces alters the way you perform your oral hygiene routine and also the foods you can eat. Patients from Kew can follow the advice of a Sparkle Dental Boutique dentist in order to keep their oral hygiene as healthy as possible, so that they don’t get tooth decay or gum disease through lack of care whilst wearing metal braces.

Diet

You must be careful about the foods that you consume when you wear metal braces. Initially your teeth will be painful and sore so you will only be able to eat soft foods. At first avoiding raw vegetables, meat and any other hard food is for the best. Whilst wearing your metal brace try not to eat foods that are difficult to clean and remove from your mouth and also sugary foods, as they cause the metal to stain and can cause tooth decay.

Oral care

It will take time to get used to flossing with braces on because at first it will seem a lot harder than normal flossing. Flossing is important as food can get into the wiring very easily. Brush the teeth with a special proxy brush to gently remove any leftover food in the brace and teeth. Brush carefully around the metal brackets after every meal. This can take time out of your day so it is best to do a thorough cleaning before you go to bed at the end of the day.

A fluoride mouthwash also helps prevent any tooth decay along with flossing and brushing, as any food not picked up by flossing and brushing could eventually lead to tooth decay so the mouthwash can get rid of this or any enamel stainage.

They can also cause mouth dryness so if this happens rinse the mouth with water again to replenish the moisture in the mouth.

When you have metal braces here at Sparkle Dental Boutique we give clear instructions for aftercare and oral hygiene for our patients and offer full support throughout the treatment.

Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Patients in Brentwood Looking to Brighten and Straighten Their Smiles?

May 28th, 2012

A great deal of the smiles in magazine photos and on your TV and film screens are in fact porcelain veneers. These micro thin layers of porcelain are gently applied to cover the teeth, hiding all traces of staining or tooth wear. Veneers are hand-made to fit exactly to your specific teeth and the porcelain is beautifully white whilst retaining transparency, so that there is a natural depth to the look of your teeth. There is a reason so many famous people get porcelain veneers, mainly because they are so discreet and give amazing results to transform your whole appearance.

So what can Porcelain veneers be used for?

There are many reasons patients from Brentwood choose to have veneers applied. If you happen to have a chipped tooth or teeth then a veneer or set of veneers can be applied in the same colour as the rest of your teeth, so that your whole mouth looks natural and more balanced.

If you have any gaps in your teeth veneers can fill out the space that the gap creates, leaving a gap free smile.

Broken teeth can also benefit from having porcelain veneers hiding any imperfections and restoring your teeth to their former glory. In the same way veneers can be used for crooked teeth, with veneers used to treat certain crooked areas, creating a perfect looking tooth, completely hiding crooked or broken areas of a smile.

What are the advantages of porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are durable, strong and long lasting, creating an excellent youthful, healthy appearance. The materials used are tested all over the world in many laboratories, guaranteeing only the best materials around, which should last anything between ten to fifteen years.

During the first appointment the teeth are shaped and a mould is taken of your teeth and temporary hand crafted veneers are fitted. This gives you the opportunity to trial run the veneers so that you get used to the look and also any problems can be addressed and changed before the permanent veneers are fitted. A week later you will have your permanent porcelain veneers fitted and you smile will be instantly transformed.

Simpli5 Clear Braces for Adults from Hounslow Looking for Effective, Invisible Teeth Straightening

May 25th, 2012

In an ideal world we would all like to have straight, perfect celebrity smiles, but unfortunately this is not always the case. Crooked or uneven teeth can cause massive disruptions to our lives, impeding our confidence and our ‘get up and go’ spirit.

On a more medical note, uneven teeth can cause pain and discomfort and affect the rest of the teeth in our mouth. We may have to avoid certain foods and teeth can become extra sensitive. It can also affect our ability to bite, which could become uneven and put extra pressure on the other teeth or cause more movement in misaligned teeth.

Introducing an innovative brace method

The Simpli5 clear braces are incredibly discreet and offer convenience because you can take them out whenever you like. They are clear aligners, which fit into the same categories as Invisalign or ClearStep.

Why choose Simpli5?

For a look of pure cosmetic perfection Simpli5 braces are the number one choice. They are most suitable for minor to moderate dental issues but do speak to us at the Sparkle Dental Boutique to assess the best course of treatment for you. The procedure involves wearing a series of five, transparent, plastic aligners, which gently align your teeth into the correct positions.

This is achieved through a gentle constant pressure, which actively helps move teeth into the required position. Each of the five aligners is normally worn for between two or three weeks at a time. But each person’s needs are specific to them so your Sparkle Dental Boutique dentist will give you a clearer idea of what is needed. Overall treatment time of all five braces combined is usually between 10 and 20 weeks for patients from Hounslow looking for orthodontic treatment.

Dental Emergency Advice for Patients from Ealing Suffering from a Broken Tooth, Fractured Crown or Knocked Out Tooth

May 21st, 2012

A dental emergency can happen when we least expect it to patients from Ealing. It could be a trip or fall knocking out a tooth, or a broken tooth from eating a hard substance. Maybe a crown falls out, whatever the emergency the best thing to do is to call the Sparkle Dental Boutique as soon as possible so that we can treat the problem, but in the mean time here is some advice;

What if a tooth falls out?

If this happens the first thing to do is to try and find the tooth, it may still be in your mouth or it may have fallen on the ground but either way try to retrieve it and rinse it under water very gently. Try to put it back into the tooth socket but if this is not possible you can wrap the tooth in a cloth or tissue and submerge it in milk or put it in the cheek pocket of your mouth. Your tooth could possibly be saved if you get to us within 30 minutes.

A crown falls out

If for some reason your crown falls out try to get to the dentist as soon as you can. Don’t try to put the crown back in as the tooth can become infected or you could end up swallowing it. Gently clean the crown with a soft bristled tooth brush and get it as dry as possible. Call us at the Sparkle Dental Boutique so we can schedule an appointment as soon as we can.

The tooth may have fractured, but either way try to look in your mouth so that you can describe to us exactly what has happened.

What happens with a fractured tooth?

If your tooth becomes fractured call us as soon as possible. In the meantime rinse your mouth with warm water and if there is any pain or swelling using a cold compress to soothe.

Whatever the dental emergency we are there to help you and give advice. Call us at Sparkle Dental Boutique for all your dental emergency issues.

Valplast Sets the World of Dentures on Fire for Patients from Hanwell

May 18th, 2012

Unfortunately for us, our teeth don’t always last forever and this is a fact of life. But, there are many options available to patients from Hanwell replace teeth that have been extracted or lost. Missing teeth can cause an acute amount of suffering and embarrassment. They can affect how we socialise and many people start to stay indoors more often, fearful of people looking at their teeth. Missing teeth can also affect the shape of the face, as the dental foundation changes and the facial structure declines. Teeth either side of the missing tooth can move around and also missing teeth can cause speech and bite problems.

What solution is on offer?

It is very important to replace lost teeth and an innovative product worth consideration at Sparkle Dental Boutique is a new form of cosmetic dentures called Valplast dentures, which are incredibly comfortable in and almost impossible to detect in the mouth.

These dentures are cleverly designed using numerous layers of material, which mimic the natural colour of the teeth and gums, giving you a young looking, white and wonderful smile.

Why is Valplast different?

Valplast dentures are entirely different to other dentures due to their makeup. The clearness of the materials used lets the tissue underneath come through so that there is a natural depth and colour to the denture not seen in any other denture treatment.

The materials used are impossible to break, never has a denture treatment been so strong. Another positive aspect is that there are no metal clasps needed unlike many other dentures, giving a natural invisible look in the mouth.

If you would like to speak to us further about Valplast Dentures call Sparkles Dental Boutique today for further advice and information.

Damon Braces are the Way Forward for Patients from Ealing Who Want Fast Teeth Straightening Results

May 14th, 2012

Damon braces are a fantastic solution for teenagers’ dental problems where teeth need to be straightened or put in place. Braces used to cause a lot of pain and friction in order to move teeth, leaving teeth feeling very sensitive and it was almost impossible to eat hard foods when teeth are feeling so painful.

Teens often have issues with confidence levels and low self esteem and crooked out of place teeth can lower confidence levels even further. The pain often involved in traditional braces can make the whole experience very difficult leaving teens traumatised into adult hood, which can sometimes lead to dental phobia.

What is different about Damon braces?

Damon braces differ as they use a passive slide device so that friction is eliminated and a much lighter force is used to move teeth. Teeth are able to move around so much more freely rather than being stuck in a rigid position, so the level of comfort is much higher, which means fewer adjustments are needed during treatment. Adjustments can cause pain and also take up more time and more appointments.

Straighter teeth and a better smile

Not only do Damon braces straighten teeth in a gentler, lighter way they also help to make the face look symmetrical, giving the face balance and structure. You will be left with an attractive broad smile that will really make a difference to your face and will look like a new improved you.

If you are interested in this treatment or want to know how it works there is a great video on the Sparkle Dental boutique website that gives a 3D image of how the brace works and its unique flexibility. If you would like a consultation and more information contact a Sparkle Dental Boutique dentist today for all patients from Ealing looking for teeth straightening treatment.

Revolutionary Methods of Replacing Lost Teeth for Patients from Hanwell with Damage Smiles

May 11th, 2012

Teeth can be lost or broken just by biting into our favourite hard snack, after which we are left holding our mouth in despair! It is a well known fact that a lot of us will have missing teeth during childhood and adult life no matter what the reason. Whilst some of us go to the dentist to get this looked at, others bury their heads in the sand and try and forget those missing teeth hoping that the problem will just go away.

Why replace missing teeth?

However, if you don’t replace missing teeth the problem will affect the health of your mouth and your dental hygiene. A missing tooth affects how you bite, which adds strain to the rest of your teeth.  Big gaps in your mouth also mean that any foods you eat will become trapped, which then breeds bacteria that cause gum disease.

There are also other problems that missing teeth can cause, such as ageing the look of your face, distorting the shape of your jaw and mouth, changing how you smile and also affecting how you speak.

What solutions are there?

One solution to tooth loss is a dental bridge, which can replace missing teeth using the remaining healthy teeth to support the new teeth for patients from Hanwell. The teeth on either side are crowned for full, long lasting support, with a pontic holding the replacement teeth sitting in between.

Another solution is dental implants. Cylinder shaped titanium rods are placed into the jaw, to provide a strong, stable foundation for a replacement tooth. Implants are also a great solution if you have dentures, as they keep them in place and prevent the sore gums and bone degeneration that loose dentures can often cause.

Dentures are removable and are created to look like your natural teeth using the latest dental technology. Dentures can also treat teeth that try to move because of the gap the missing tooth has created.

Get New Teeth in a (May) Day with All on 4 Dental Implants for Patients from Chiswick this May Bank Holiday

May 7th, 2012

Suffering from lost teeth or wobbly dentures can leave patients from Chiswick with a headache and a severe lack of confidence. No one wants to spend lots of time at the dentist having treatment after treatment, wondering when it’s ever going to end. Well, now patients have the option of the innovative All on 4 treatment, which is a fantastic, fast way of replacing lost teeth that then remain firmly in the mouth.

Dentures can be an absolute nightmare, ill-fitting, loose and giving you difficulty going about your normal everyday life such as when eating, speaking and drinking, however, with All on 4 treatment these problems will be a thing of the past.

How does All on 4 treatment work?

Using All on 4 means you will no longer have to use denture adhesives, as your new teeth will be permanent, non moving teeth like a set of natural teeth. A whole arch of permanent teeth can be achieved using this innovative technology, so that a denture or bridge can be fixed stably into place in just one day using 4 dental implants.

Benefits

It used to take a long time to have a dental implant procedure, with restorative fixtures such as dentures and bridges fitted into place months after the initial treatment was completed. Often the procedure would also require bone grafting to increase bone density and make the jaw suitable for treatment. The All on 4 treatment can be completed with a restorative attached in just one day, as it uses four specially angled implants to fully support dentures without the need for months of healing time.

After the procedure you will be free to eat any of the foods you love but used to avoid because of your dentures. Loose dentures can often cause speech problems, which can lead to a lack of confidence interacting with people. However, with the All on 4 treatment your speech can return to normal and your confidence will be restored.

You will then be left with a beautiful set of teeth and a confident smile, ready to eat, drink and socialise whenever you like. Speak to a Sparkle Dental Boutique dentist now for more details.

A May Day Smile the Invisalign Way for Patients from Acton Looking for Invisible Teeth Straightening

May 1st, 2012

May Day is a time for towns and villages to get together to celebrate the end of winter and the start of spring. But what if you are embarrassed about your teeth and your smile? Any celebration instead becomes a time where you feel ashamed or embarrassed and while everyone is dancing and laughing around the May poll you are hiding away, not wanting to socialise, cursing your crooked teeth.

What is the solution?

If you suffer from crooked, misaligned teeth or gaps and think the only solution must be big, obvious metal braces then you will be pleasantly surprised. New dental technology and advances in orthodontics means you can now wear a state of the art ‘invisible’ brace, which moves your teeth into place using completely clear braces that remain hidden in your mouth. You can barely see them unless you know what you are looking for and they offer the perfect, discreet solution to an embarrassing, often painful problem.

How do they work?

Invisalign braces should be worn for atleast 20 hours a day for fast, effective results for patients from Acton. Wearing your Invisalign aligners for anything less than this time may slow down the results you want to achieve and will mean a longer treatment time.

Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners, with each aligner replaced every two weeks to a differently shaped aligner, which encourage your smile into a straighter position. Invisalign treatment can take between 9-24 months and is a great treatment for a range of orthodontic problems such as gapped teeth, crooked teeth and overbites.

Invisalign is a fantastic solution to crooked teeth and if you feel this could work for you speak to a Sparkle Dental Boutique dentist today.
