All gain no pain with Lingual STB Braces

April 29th, 2011

If you have a crooked smile then it is probably a given that you dream of that poker straight smile to be proud of. At the same time it is probably a given that the thought of correcting your skewed smile with braces is one that fills you with dread and so you plod on reluctantly content with your wonky smile in a sea of perfect pearly whites.

Braces are so common that most people have a stereotypical image in their mind of what a brace is – big, bulky and completely unattractive – but what most people don’t realise is that with progress in technology the modern day brace is far from that stereotype and getting your poker straight smile may not be half as scary as you might have assumed.

Dentists have never failed to realise the aesthetic worries of an orthodontic brace for most patients and out of this issue lingual braces have emerged. These are braces that are fixed to the back of the teeth where they are invisible to other people and so all the fears of wearing braces quickly disappear.

The latest in lingual braces is the STb lingual brace and the major selling point of STb is the fact that it is effective, comfortable and invisible and also has the added benefit of a rapid treatment time whilst often being much cheaper than traditional orthodontic treatments.

Too good to be true?

STb lingual braces really are a wonder invention if you are looking for a poker straight smile without all the hassle of going through orthodontic treatment as you imagine it to be.

They fit discreetly to the back of the teeth without causing the speech problems that lingual braces are known to cause due to the disruption to the contact made between your tongue and the back of your teeth when you speak. The revolutionary brace is also specially designed to reduce friction and force applied to the teeth and so you are unlikely to experience much pain during treatment.

So, STb lingual braces are discreet, comfortable, relatively pain free and are not going to make you talk like Jonathon Ross for the next few months. Great! Believe it or not though it still gets better…

Traditional orthodontic treatment is known to take at least a year to complete; most lingual systems or aligners often take months; but these braces take a few months max to get the job done. For some patients it is a matter of weeks and the average treatment takes around 16 weeks to complete.

You’re probably starting to see that achieving your dream of that perfect smile is not nearly as far away as you thought it to be. STb braces can solve your smile woes and you will not have to go through the trauma of being the horror of Hanwell for the foreseeable future.

The marvels of modern technology

April 27th, 2011

As Ginger & The Snaps sang about in their hit song from the sixties, growing up really is hard to do. And it seems today’s teenage generation do not have it easier than their parents did. With the different forms of technology available and no clear way into the field of work, those found in this age-group will obviously need all our help and wisdom to assist them on the rocky road which is life. For the teenagers living in Ealing, the number of questions seems to be growing all the time. Shall I stay in this affluent part of London? Should I set up my own business somewhere, such as in Portobello Road? But one question which can be answered right here and now is that the straightness of your teeth need not be crooked for longer than they should be.

How can this be possible?

This is achievable by way of the employment of braces but not the metallic ones which seemed to be commonly used on what seemed like every teenager who wanted that perfect smile which nature had denied them.

So what are Invisalign Teen braces?

A literally invisible brace, this modern piece of technology not only allows its wearer to smile with confidence as they no longer have “train track” braces. Unlike Invisalign technology which adults use, Invisalign Teen understands that your teeth are growing all the time and it adapts to its ever-changing environment and grows with you. By visiting your local dental practise in Ealing every eight to ten weeks will allow for your dentist to update you on the progress of your treatment which might not seem immediate but over the course of the six to fifteen month treatment time the noticeable improvements will be remarkable.

Sparkle Dental Boutique are here to add a little ‘sparkle’ to your smile

Invisalign Teen not only treats one form of dental ailment but several such as overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, crossbite, underbite and overbite. Even if you thought your own teeth were beyond repair, by visiting your dentist about what Invisalign Teen braces can do for you will successfully answer any questions and put you on the right path of treatment.

Invisalign Lite for Hounslow locals

April 26th, 2011

When you look back to your former years studying at secondary school, there must be some memories which all of us have. The head teacher who was far too stern for many of our likings, a fellow student who we all had an unbearable crush on and the one schoolmate who had braces on their teeth. But not just any braces.

Resembling a concoction which had been made out of train tracks that locomotives drive ferociously on,  the person normally wearing the braces wasn’t always the most confident they could be. This might have had a psychological effect on them as they did not know exactly what to think of their fellow students’ perceptions. This could have or is currently happening to those attending Hounslow schools. So if you find that you are in this dental predicament, there is a way forward if your teeth are in such a horrific condition that you need professional assistance but were afraid that only metallic braces would be the only way forward for you.

Can you tell me about Invisalign Lite braces?

Good question that and one which many do not know the answer to. Used to correct minor or moderate dental issues, Invisalign Lite braces are literally invisible which requires its wearer to having a series of ten plastic yet clear aligners in order to assist their teeth in obtaining that naturally straight smile. One of the main positives of Invisalign Lite is that the braces can be taken out when you eat, attending a social meeting at Hounslow Village Hall or even when brushing your teeth.

How long before I see results?

Treatment normally takes on average six months for the differences to become apparent. This is an approximate time for how long it will take but with the gentle pressure which Invisalign Lite applies it might require a shorter period than this.

Fix that sweatshop feeling: how to deal with Excessive Sweating

April 25th, 2011

Ever been preparing for that special occasion, dinner date or work conference only to find that your best outfit has been ruined by excessive underarm damp patches?  There’s no worse social situation than finding you can’t control severe sweating during some of life’s most important moments.  Furthermore this sort of sweating can affect you at any time of day, unannounced, which makes it increasingly difficult to prepare for or manage in any way.  And it’s not just underarm perspiration that is a distressing problem for some people.

Other complaints include sweating in the hands, feet and chest area, which, when combined with an abundance of underarm moisture, results in some serious discomfort that can affect much of your day-to-day routine.  Unbeknown to many silent sufferers, there’s actually a fast and effective way to put an end to the embarrassment of extreme perspiration – and the feeling that you’ve run a marathon when in reality you’ve not moved from your desk.  And the options for accessing such remedies are even more surprising.

Did You Say Botox at the Dentist?

Pop into your local Brentford dental surgery (yes dental!) and the last treatment you would expect to see on offer is one for excessive sweating.  Now it’s easier than ever to access the medical care you need and at a location that is convenient to you.  And the best thing about this service is that there is no need to track down a separate consultant.  Your trusted dentist is right there to take you quickly and safely through your treatment plan.  Long-lasting results are achieved by a series of straightforward botox injections that work to prevent the glands from producing such large amounts of sweat.  It really is as fast as a filling, and with such dramatic reductions in gland activity, you won’t be disappointed with the outcome.  Botox gets to work immediately on the problem area and you will experience astonishing effects within just one week of beginning your course of treatment.

So next time you’re having a routine check-up, be sure to ask your dentist about routine botox treatment for excessive sweating.  Save all that sweating for the gym, not the office!

Dreading the Drill? How to deal with Dental Phobia

April 21st, 2011

Walk into most dental surgeries and you’ll find a room full of anxious patients counting down the minutes until they have to face the dreaded dentist’s chair.  It seems that we would all rather be anywhere but at the dentist having a routine check up.  And the chair really does symbolise the root of this fear.  Many people, as they lean back, dislike the idea of a dentist at their head, reaching for several tortuous looking instruments and speaking in what seems like a code to the dental nurse about the state of their teeth.  We just don’t like feeling out of control.

Most people expect the worst.  And, unfortunately, for those who are literally too scared to make it regularly past the receptionist, the amount of work required could be a lot more than had they kept to the recommended two check ups per year.  Prevention is one way of keeping gum disease at bay and invasive treatment to a minimum, but, of course, preventative habits come hand in hand with visiting the dentist on a regular basis.

I haven’t seen a dentist since I was a child – help!!

So what about those of us who really have avoided the dentist for several years?  For many people their phobia of all things dental is such that experiencing serious ongoing toothache is preferable to seeking immediate advice from professionals.  Key to addressing these fears about treatment – many of which are about outdated practices, or are simply untrue – is finding a sympathetic dentist able to reassure you about the type of procedures available.  Why not break the habit today and take your first step to having a healthier mouth?  By contacting one of the many surgeries that can be found in Kew, your worst fears about dentistry can be quickly laid to rest.  Many dental phobias arise from the patient’s lack of information; images left over from distressing childhood experiences can lead to a tendency to assume the worst-case scenario.  Remember, knowledge is power.

There are numerous experienced dentists in Kew trained to talk you through each step of the treatment process as it is taking place. Knowing exactly what will take place before and during the dentistry work puts you back in control and able to convey exactly how you are feeling at each stage of your treatment.  Gone are the days of uncommunicative dentists, working away on patients who feel they cannot talk about their anxieties.

As you would expect with any invasive medical procedure, dentists are qualifying with the skills to listen to patients’ fears as a primary means to prevent extensive treatment in the long run.

Say no to Sunken Cheeks

April 19th, 2011

Ask someone which treatment they’d most want on their Christmas list and the words dental implants are probably not at the top.  In fact they’re possibly not on anyone’s list of desirable dental treatment.  Many people, if they’ve heard of implants at all, have little or no idea what they are or why they should be interested in having them fitted.  But if you have lost any of your teeth, either through gum disease, or because of injury, getting a dental implant fitted could make some truly positive changes to your life.

While many people are content to put up with missing teeth, particularly if they are hidden from the view of the camera, in the long term the cheek area surrounding the missing teeth will take on an unpleasant, sunken look that we might only associate with the end of our lives, not the beginning!  If you’re out and about in Acton, there’s nothing worse than feeling you must constantly hide your smile and even lower your head wherever you go.  A knock to your confidence is carried with you at all times.  But it doesn’t have to be like that.

Aren’t dental implants the equivalent to dentures or bridges?

Quite simply, no, they are not.  While you may have heard of remedies for tooth loss such as dentures or bridges, there are some important differences between these treatments and dental implants.  Going with the denture option can still lead to a change in the shape of the jaw, whereas, with dental implants, bone structure can be preserved, and there is no need to start to drilling into healthy teeth.  In fact, unlike dentures, there is no need to compromise the surrounding healthy teeth in any way.

Let’s think aesthetics.  If you want your mouth to appear to be natural (or perhaps in even better shape than it was before!) implants really are the option for you.  Dental implants appear seamlessly in the mouth, passing as real teeth and lasting much longer than dentures, which may become loose, as well as prevent you eating some of your favourite, everyday foods.

Don’t change your habits, your looks, or your lifestyle.  Ask your dentist about dental implants as a rewarding and proven solution to inevitable tooth loss.

Don’t dodge the dental cleaning

April 18th, 2011

When it comes to fears and phobias the dentist probably scores highly in the rankings. There are many people that have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the dentist chair. There are far too many people that completely avoid their check-ups for years purely through their dentist chair phobia. Unfortunately there is only one place you will end up as a result of check-up dodging and that place is the dentist chair – it’s a vicious circle!

Your regular six-monthly or yearly check up will usually consist of a quick look around your mouth; maybe a simple x-ray to check for decay; checking for signs of gum disease; and a straightforward cleaning to remove the built up plaque and tartar that if left to fester will cause problems for your teeth. Which part of this sounds painful? The answer is none of it.

Facing Your Fear

The key to breaking your dentist dodging habit is to face your fear – go through that door, sit in that chair; think of your happy place whilst the dentist does their job and I guarantee that you will come out alive and better still with a smile to be proud of.

A dental cleaning, although it can seem to some like unnecessary torture, is a very important part of your oral hygiene routine; you (hopefully) wouldn’t wake up in a morning and not brush your teeth and in the same way you shouldn’t let your check-ups pass by without biting the bullet. Over time it is unavoidable that plaque and tartar will build up around your teeth and gums and a dental cleaning is the only way to remove this build-up.

A dental cleaning is pretty straightforward and usually contains three steps. Firstly, your dentist will use a vibrating instrument that breaks up large pieces of tartar and washes them away with a mist of water – this part is completely painless and the whirring sound of the instrument makes it seem a much bigger deal than it really is. This will be followed by the scaling tool which is a smaller instrument used to scrape the smaller, tougher pieces of tartar from your teeth – this is probably the most uncomfortable part of the procedure but it is very rarely painful. The final step is the polishing which is completely painless and leaves your teeth feeling squeaky clean.

The reality is that there is nothing to fear when it comes to dentist day. Regular cleanings will keep plaque and tartar build-up to a minimum meaning that future cleanings will not require much elbow grease to remove the small amount of tartar that has collected. Regular dental cleanings will also keep your oral health in tip top condition and prevent a number of more serious health problems both oral and physical such as gum disease, tooth decay and oral cancer; heart disease, heart attacks and strokes.

Most dentist phobes will read this and continue the dentist dodging game they’ve come to master over the years but the truth is that the mundane dental cleaning is not the torture trail it is made out to be. You will be in and out of the dentist chair before you know it and you can tell the people of Chiswick you faced your fear and rose victorious from the ashes.

Speedy facelifts for teeth with Cosmetic Bonding treatment

April 15th, 2011

Now most of us haven’t got a perfect set of pearly whites.  Unless you’re an A List celebrity, scrutinise most people’s smile and you’ll probably find dental evidence of some serious partying.  At least that’s how it seems.  In fact discolouration, chips, cracks and gaps are just a few of the ways in which teeth can naturally erode and alter over time.  So if you’ve been partying hard in Hanwell, or perhaps you’ve simply let your smile go over the last few years, cosmetic bonding procedures offer the ideal way to rejuvenate your entire mouth, and in just a few easy steps.

Want to carry on the party – but without all that evidence?  Without getting too technical about it, cosmetic bonding is basically a way of reshaping and re-sculpting problem teeth that have undergone some wear and tear over the years.  What’s more, it seems that no facelift job is too big.  Cosmetic bonding fixes a multitude of dental complaints, from brightening brownish stains caused by tea, coffee and wine, to lessening gaps occurring between the teeth, and even straightening up crooked smiles.  Like a facelift, bonding magically smooths over the teeth’s natural variations and problem areas, creating a flawless, streamlined finish.

But don’t worry, unlike a real facelift procedure, this treatment simply involves coating the tooth with a plasticy bonding material that is fast to apply and a whole lot less painful.  Actually some bonding treatments require no local anaesthetic at all.  Watch your dentist transform into a true artist as your teeth are fashioned into a desirable shape and colour, creating the smile you’ve always wanted out of the one you’ve always had.

Braces are not just for teenagers

April 13th, 2011

Ever wished you had your childhood years over again?  How many of us would forget about the embarrassment of braces and say yes to reliving those years and getting the straight teeth we’ve always wanted.  Think it’s too late – or too embarrassing?  Well it’s not.  Welcome to the world of adult braces: the discreet and rapid solution to fixing a crooked smile and never having to hide your mouth again in public.  It really is a revolutionary treatment that sounds almost too good to be true – almost.  But it is true, and what’s more many adults, sick of running from the camera, are now opting for braces and embracing a more confident, self-assured way of life.  Think it’s all about ‘train track’ braces and years of hiding your teeth during the treatment process?  Think again.  Adult braces are now practically invisible, fitted in a tooth-coloured material so that no one need know you’re undergoing treatment – until they see the incredible outcome, that is!

Surely no dentist could straighten my mouth

Call into a Ealing dentist today and ask about braces.  You’ll be amazed at the speed in which your teeth can go from severely crooked to perfectly straight.  In just 6 months your mouth can be transformed, giving you the smile you’ve only ever dreamed of.  The results are quite simply unbelievable in some cases, where a before picture really does make it seem like no dentist, however skilful, could make such a difference.  And before you ask, for those cynics out there, no, your teeth do not merely revert to their original position after treatment.  What would be the point in that?  Your dentist has the technique to make sure that your teeth, once straightened by braces, never become crooked again.  Getting braces is now fast, effective, and most importantly inconspicuous.  With such positive changes to your smile, why settle for the life of a shrinking violet?

Don’t risk losing it, Crown it!

April 11th, 2011

It is the hope that most of us try our utmost to keep our smiles bright, happy and healthy. It is the nature of life though that even when you guard it with your life it can still very easily get damaged – your teeth are no different. If, for whatever reason, you have a damaged tooth then getting a dental crown may be all that is needed to protect and strengthen that tooth and stop the risk of losing it completely.

A dental crown is used to protect any damaged teeth in your mouth and prevent the tooth from any further damage that would lead to loss of the whole tooth. A tooth can be damaged for a number of reasons – decay, fracture, cavities and acid erosion, bad habits such as grinding your teeth and poor diet – and all of these problems can be solved with a dental crown.

Support, Protection and Strength

A dental crown is a simple but very powerful and versatile little piece of kit – it can provide that little extra support; protection and strength wherever it is needed. If a tooth is decayed to a point where a filling will not do the job alone then a dental crown will provide that little extra bit of support to protect it from decaying further. If your tooth is cracked or broken and in need of protection then a crown can support the tooth and keep it healthy. If your teeth have been badly damaged by grinding, poor diet or acid erosion to a crucial point where they require extra protection to survive then a crown will save the day.

Furthermore, not only are crowns useful for offering that little extra protection but they can also be used as part of a dental implant procedure to replace a missing tooth or even just for aesthetic purposes if you want to improve the overall look of your smile; although in the latter case crowns should never be the first option.

Dental crowns could be seen as the next step up from a veneer – a veneer is just a cover for any unsightly things that lie beneath but a crown is the cover with that extra layer of defence that stops the problem it is disguising from getting even worse.

The treatment procedure for a crown is fairly straightforward and your dentist chair trauma can be over in just two visits. A good dentist will make sure that your crown blends perfectly with your natural teeth and once fitted nobody will notice a difference. You can stroll down Hounslow High Street confident that nobody will know what lies beneath your pearly white smile. Even better, with a good oral hygiene routine and by taking good care of your teeth your faux pearly whites should stay strong and healthy for 10-15 years.

Sparkle Dental Boutique are here to add a little ‘sparkle’ to your smile

A dental crown is a knight in shining armour for your teeth when something goes wrong. It is strong, supportive and is guaranteed to protect your teeth from the dangers of decay if you are sure to take good care of it.
